32nd Annual NW Garlic Festival
Garlic lovers celebrate with the faithful throngs who make their annual pilgrimage to the NW Garlic Festival, held each June in the seaside community of Ocean Park, Washington, located on the Long Beach Peninsula. This "Garlic Olympics of Gastronomy" is not held for the region's garlic-growing ability. This festival was born out of love of great, garlic-laden cuisine! Festival takes place 10am-5pm on Saturday, 1-am-4pm on Sunday at Wilson Field, home of the Beach Barons Rod Run to the End of the World, on 258th and Sandridge Road in Ocean Park. Specialty food and craft vendors will offer up this supernatural powered herb, prepared and put to use in every imaginable way. Don't miss the garlic ice cream and many other ways to use garlic. Beach Clean Up Day with GrassRoots Garbage Gang
July 4th is great fun along the coast but beach celebrations leave lots of trash that must be collected before the tide takes it out to sea! Join the GrassRoots Garbage Gang for a Friday clean-up on July 5th! Whether you're a local or a traveling visitor, pitching in for this fun clean-up day will bring you closer to the beautiful coastline as you leave it better than you found it. The GrassRoots Garbage Gang organizes a beach clean up for the 28 miles of beach on Washington's Long Beach Peninsula every January, April and July. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to join in. Meet organizers at 9:30am to sign in and collect bags. Organizers will be greeting volunteers at the peninsula's major beach approach roads: Seaview, Sid Snyder Drive, Bolstad, Cranberry, Klipsan, Bay Avenue and Oysterville Road. Volunteers will work until 11:30 or noon; you'll work up an appetite so stay for the soup feed after the clean-up! Check the website for a map to meeting locations along the peninsula. Thank you!
