May 19 Annual Surf Perch Derby
Start with the Kiwanis breakfast of pancakes, ham, scrambled eggs, cranberry juice, coffee and milk (included with registration fee). Meals for non-fisherpeople are available. Fish your heart out, and weigh in each afternoon for great cash prizes! Both individuals and three-man teams can join the fun. 6am-3pm. $25-$30 registration fee. The GrassRoots Garbage Gang is an all-volunteer, Washington State not-for-profit group that cleans up the Peninsula beaches in SW Washington. Hundreds of volunteers clean the Peninsula's 28-mile beach.  Support comes from incredible volunteers, local businesses, City of Long Beach, Marine Resource Committe and Washington State Parks. A diverse group of Peninsula Arts Association artists provide a celebration of art with their creative wares. Hot Rods line up on Howerton Way at the port of Ilwaco to compete in a coasting competition. Cars have approximately 15 feet in which to accelerate and then coast for 200 yards.
