Through September 30
Journeying from Garibaldi to Batterson, the Oregon Coast Crawler continues its tradition of arranging scenic excursions using vintage trains on historic rail routes in the Pacific Northwest. Two dates are set for this special excursion: May 20th and September 30th, 2017. Traveling beside Tillamook and Nehalem Bays, passengers will be treated to stunning coastal and canyon scenery. Departing the picturesque fishing village of Garibaldi the train makes its way northward and inland on the Port of Tillamook Branch Line. In route, the train makes an extended stop in bayside in Wheeler for a local lunch supplied by Blue Heron Creamery. The afternoon journey follows the Nehalem River and the scenery will change dramatically through the remote Nehalem Canyon to Batterson. On the return trip, an extended stop in Rockaway Beach, offers a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean and some time to stroll the streets for locally made taffy or ice cream in this beach town. This special trip will use the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad's McCloud #25 locomotive, an engine featured in the movie Stand By Me and offers a rare chance to enjoy the spectacular Oregon coast and Nehalem River canyon at a slow pace. The trainset includes an open-air car with outdoor seating. Several stops will be made to enjoy the scenery and snap photos....[read more]
