Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston are a haven for outdoor enthusiasts offering recreational opportunities on both land and sea, from the dunes to the ocean, bay and rivers. Near Charleston, on the Cape Arago Highway, there are three spectacular state parks, a lighthouse and a nine-hole golf course. Fishing, crabbing, clamming and whale watching are popular activities here. The largest indoor shopping mall on the coast is the Pony Village Mall in North Bend with over 60 retail stores, and nearby is The Mill Casino. Cultural pursuits include the Coos Art Museum and events at the recently restored Egyptian Theatre. There is live entertainment at the casino and at the Pony Village Cinema there are 12 screens showing first run movies. Coos Bay is the largest city on the Oregon coast.

Mill Casino
Casino has slots and table games, hotel and restaurants.
Shore Acres State Park
High on rugged sandstone cliffs, landscaped gardens feature plants and flowers from all over the world. A trail leads to a secluded ocean cove. A fully enclosed building offers ocean views without the weather. Most of the garden is wheelchair accessible. Assistance animals only and a small fee is charged.
North Bend Boardwalk
The North Bend Boardwalk is a waterfront walkway that connects Virginia Avenue and California Avenue in historic downtown North Bend, Oregon. This urban waterfront walkway provides pedestrians the ability to view Coos Bay and the adjacent hills and natural areas from raised viewing areas.
Sunset Bay State Park
Day use park includes picnic facilities along the bay and easy access to the beach. Hiking trails take you to rugged cliffs with spectacular ocean vistas, including views of the Cape Arago Lighthouse. Tent, RV and yurt camping.
Cape Arago State Park
From the scenic headland, the south cove trail leads to a sandy beach and tidepools. The north cove trail provides access to the beach and views of the offshore colonies of seal and sea lions at Shell Island, a designated National Wildlife Refuge. This is a year-round day use park with no fee. There are restrooms and a group shelter.
Sunset Bay Golf Course
Nine-hole regulation length course, par 36.
Coos Bay Speedway
One-eighth mile drag strip. Racing for cars, trucks and motorcycles.
Coos Art Museum
Oregon's third oldest art museum housed in the art deco former post office.
