
The Southwest corner of Washington is home to several communities along a 28-mile stretch of beach offering family activities, abundant outdoor recreation and historical attractions including two lighthouses. There are 26 miles of uninterrupted sandy beach on the peninsula to explore between the Columbia River and the tip of the Peninsula. Downtown Long Beach offers family attractions including arcades and go-karts along with plenty of shopping and dining. Visit Jake the Alligator Man at Marsh’s Free Museum, let your imagination soar at the World Kite Museum and discover one of the important local industries at the Cranberry Museum. Near Ocean Park, visit Leadbetter Point State Park Natural Area and the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge for excellent bird watching. Paddle the tranquil Willapa Bay Water trail or hike the Discovery Trail from Ilwaco to Long Beach. At Cape Disappointment, visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the oldest lighthouse in the Northwest. A second lighthouse at North Head is also open for visitors. The Port of Ilwaco offers charter boat fishing, art galleries, restaurants and a seasonal farmer's market through September.
