The Southwest corner of Washington is home to several communities along a 28-mile stretch of beach offering family activities, abundant outdoor recreation and historical attractions including two lighthouses. There are 26 miles of uninterrupted sandy beach on the peninsula to explore between the Columbia River and the tip of the Peninsula. Downtown Long Beach offers family attractions including arcades and go-karts along with plenty of shopping and dining. Visit Jake the Alligator Man at Marsh’s Free Museum, let your imagination soar at the World Kite Museum and discover one of the important local industries at the Cranberry Museum. Near Ocean Park, visit Leadbetter Point State Park Natural Area and the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge for excellent bird watching. Paddle the tranquil Willapa Bay Water trail or hike the Discovery Trail from Ilwaco to Long Beach. At Cape Disappointment, visit the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the oldest lighthouse in the Northwest. A second lighthouse at North Head is also open for visitors. The Port of Ilwaco offers charter boat fishing, art galleries, restaurants and a seasonal farmer's market through September.

  • Cape Disappointment State Park

    Cape Disappointment State Park

    This 1,882 acre camping park features two miles of beach, an interpretive center and hiking and picnic areas. North Head Lighthouse is open to visitors seasonally and Cape Disappointment Lighthouse can also be accessed from the park.

  • Leadbetter Point State Park Natural Area

    Leadbetter Point Sate Park is at the northern tip of the Long Beach Peninsula and is part of the Willapa Bay Water Trail. Its features include boating, fishing, clamming, hiking trails and beach access. Birdwatching and wildlife viewing are also among the park's popular activities.

  • Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

    Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

    The interpretive center is located high above the Pacific on the cliffs of Cape Disappointment State Park. Visitors will view sketches, paintings, photographs and writing that outline the experiences of the Lewis and Clark Corps. of Discovery.

  • Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum

    Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum

    Explore the crossroads of history where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Displays illustrate local history from early Chinook Indian times to the settlement by Europeans who made the Peninsula home.

  • Cranberry Museum & Demonstration Farm

    Exhibits at the museum trace the history and key phases of the over 100-year old cranberry industry in Washington. Visit the museum, gift shop or take a walking tour of the farm to view the different varieties of cranberries, irrigation system and see how crops are planted and cultivated.
