Professional Wine Judging Added to 2012 Savor Cannon Beach Wine & Culinary Festival

The SavorNW Wine Awards will showcase the best of Northwest wines with winners to be announced at Savor Cannon Beach.

The Savor Cannon Beach Wine & Culinary Festival has announced it will feature a professional judging of Northwest wines in conjunction with the festival, March 8-11, 2012. The SavorNW Wine Awards judging will take place prior to the festival, with winners announced at the opening of the event.

"The SavorNW Wine Awards are designed to showcase the bounty of Northwest wines and the unique wine regions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and Alaska," said event director Gary Hayes. The wine awards are open to any Northwest winery and are not limited to those participating in the festival, although wineries who participate in the Festival's wine walk, a fundraiser for the Cannon Beach Children's Center, will have entry fees waived. "We see this becoming a premier wine awards event for the region," added Hayes.

SavorNW also recently launched its social media channels on Facebook and Twitter that are designed to promote winery news and wine events year-round. Northwest wine appreciators can follow SavorNW on Facebook and Twitter for regular updates on winery news, awards and wine tasting events with links to the best content by Northwest and national wine media.

The SavorNW Wine Awards are open to all types of wines made commercially in the Northwest that are available for retail sale, or are scheduled for release during 2012.
