Shirley Loutzenhiser at Kay-Lynn's in Seaside
Shirley Loutzenhiser travels to the key fashion markets across the country searching for unusual items with modern style and artistic flair to bring to Seaside. As owner of Kay-Lynn's, Loutzenhiser is continuing a more than half-century tradition of offering fashionable women's clothing.
Her mother, Kay Duncan, opened the original Kay-Lynn's in 1949. Shirley purchased the store from her in 1987. The original Kay-Lynn's was located in Seaside's historic -Gilbert Building. They also operated a second store called Ms. Gentry, located in its current store on Broadway. About 10 years ago Loutzenhiser combined the two stores, keeping the original name of Kay-Lynn's. "We have a loyal clientele from our local area as well as the Portland and Seattle metro area," noted Loutzenhiser.
Fashions at Kay-Lynn's range from sporty separates to elegant special occasion dresses, and she is always on the lookout for updated styling and novelty designs. "We feature the Tribal and Josef Ribkoff lines from Canada along with Equestrian, Christine Alexander, XCVI and Vanalia, a great fitting pant from Italy."
Accessories play an important role at Kay-Lynn's. A variety of jewelry, shoes, handbags and belts are available to complete an outfit or make a chic statement of their own. Brighton, Pot Luck Paris, (made from recycled metals) and Sue Huston are just a few of their carefully selected jewelry lines.
Kay-Lynn's presents an annual spring fashion show at Dooger's in Seaside the last week of April. It's a fun and anticipated event and a great opportunity to check out the newest trends. Kay-Lynn's is located at 377 Broadway in Seaside, (503) 738-6156.
