Get Your Viking on in Astoria
Published: 03/30/2017  Updated: 05/12/2017

What started in 1968 as a summer solstice celebration and all things Scandinavian, Astoria's Scandinavian Midsummer Festival is now recognized as an Oregon Heritage Tradition.

From June 16 to 18 the Astoria Scandinavian Midsummer Festival will transform the Clatsop County Fairgrounds into a wonderland of Norwegian, Finnish, Danish and Swedish culture. The festival attracts thousands of visitors from near and far who are interested in exploring the rich culture and heritage of the Scandinavian countries. From its popular Midnight Sun Breakfast to the Running of the Trolls, this three-day festival abounds with authentic attire, a royal court, beer garden, dance performances, Vikings and food galore.
