Published: 02/25/2014

Discover boutiques, galleries and tasty treats in Old Town Bandon's shopping district.

On the bank of the Coquille River, waves lap against the boats in the marina, while gulls swoop and cry overhead. Just steps away, in the boutiques and galleries of Old Town Bandon, you can sample tasty treats, experience luxurious threads, discover original arts and crafts; and find perfect playthings for every age. A stroll through Bandon's Old Town shopping district is a feast for the senses.

Coastal Mist
210 Second St SE
(541) 347-3300
The only question at Coastal Mist Chocolate Boutique is, Shall I sample now, later, or both? Here, chocolates and pastries get the white glove treatment. Chocolatiers Nicole Malloy and Kevin Shaw, with chef and co owner Tara Shaw, wow food critics and casual nibblers alike. Unique gift selections include house coffee blended with a hint of chocolate, exclusively for Coastal Mist, by Bandon's RayJen Coffee Company; baking chocolate and extracts; and Goblin Shoe Candle Company in custom scents to match the shop's signature chocolates. Take time to browse while deciding which dessert of the day you'd like. Just know you can't go wrong, unless you leave empty-handed.

The Cobbler's Bench
110 Second St SE
(541) 347-9012
Visitors to The Cobbler's Bench are announced by an old-fashioned bell at the door and greeted by the scent of leather and wool. Look for owner Peter Braun at his work bench, repairing shoes and leather goods. Located in the historic Mason's building, The Cobbler's Bench was founded by Braun's father, and is the region's go-to for footwear and shoe repair since 1979. Braun helps customers select goods that promise immediate enjoyment and longtime wear. His inventory features many products made in the United States. Find shoes, clothes and accessories by Columbia, Frye, Merrell, Birkenstock, and Sven.

Devon's Boutique
92 Second St SE
(541) 347-8092
Devon's Boutique offers elegant, easy care apparel for fashion conscious ladies. This chic boutique boasts a nod for storefront excellence by the Oregon Main Street program and multiple shoppers-choice awards. That's because owner Devon Matsuda has a keen eye for up-to-the-minute styles with classic lines. She keeps her customers in mind when she's selecting garments at an international fashion show, collaborating with designers for one-of-a kind Devon's garments, or helping ladies complete the perfect ensemble. Matsuda is the girlfriend you can always call and say, "What should I wear?"

Second Street Gallery
210 Second St SE
(541) 347-4133
Second Street Gallery is awash in color and texture. Owners Peter Bauer and Candace Kreitlow purchased the gallery in August 2012. The space is a living canvas for their artistic expertise, with show-stopping sculptural displays and wearable art, as well as paintings and photography. Kreitlow enjoys her time in the gallery, where she shares beautiful art and watches the emotional impact it makes on customers. More than half the works are created by artists who live in the region, including some of the finest Pacific Northwest wood sculptors and craftsmen.

The Toy Room
295 Second St SE
(541) 347-9783
Everybody wants to hang out in The Toy Room. Play dress-up. Get crafty. Then unwind in the reading nook.
