Paint the Town

Cannon Beach galleries showcase painters with diverse styles and subject matter, working in oil, acrylic, watercolor and mixed media.

Article ImagePainting by Chuck Gumpert is featured at DragonFire Gallery in Cannon Beach. Their styles range from detailed realist scenes to bold abstracts and exciting contemporary and impressionist visions. The painters featured in Cannon Beach galleries promise to inspire any art lover. Local artists like Jeffrey Hull capture the beautiful scenery of the Oregon coast, regional artists like Chuck Gumpert push the boundaries of art with bold abstract works and some of the nation's top artists like Steve Hanks render scenes with remarkable realism. DragonFire Gallery, White Bird Gallery and Haystack Gallery each showcase the work of more than 20 painters working in all sorts of styles. At DragonFire, the emphasis is on contemporary styles such as Joann Chartier's abstract representations of the landscape, Tracy MacEwan's ultra-bright palette used to render houses, villages and other subjects, and pure graphic abstract works by George Abboud. At White Bird Gallery, you'll find more contemporary painting and work in impressionist and realist styles. Randall Tipton creates landscapes with unexpected colors and Robert Schlegel's houses and birds are a more contemporary take on impressionist style. Haystack Gallery represents watercolors by Steve Hanks, nationally renowned for his realist scenes with women and children. Other artists include John Ebner, Mike Smith and Sally O'Neill. Bronze Coast Gallery features large scenic works by Hans Schiebold. Schiebold uses a unique style and media to create thickly textured large-scale impressionist landscapes. You'll also see Doug Hansen's mixed media paintings that incorporate organic elements with rich colors and a contemporary style. Make the rounds of all the galleries to ensure you don't miss any of the exciting individual styles and techniques painters use to capture an endless variety of subjects, all awaiting the art lover in Cannon Beach.
