Coast Explorer Magazine Launches New Mobile Web App

A Web App for smart phone users is the latest addition to the media line-up for the Northwest coast's most widely distributed free travel magazine.

Coast Explorer Magazine has introduced its new Mobile Web App. The app includes all of the travel information, community calendars, feature stories and news published on CoastExplorerMagazine.com. "Travelers can now access information on local attractions, restaurants, shopping, hotels and more on their mobile device at home or on the road," said publisher Gary Hayes.

All advertisers in the print publications produced by Pelican Productions are included in the web app at no additional charge. Pelican Productions publishes Coast Explorer Magazine, the official Seaside Visitor Guide for the Seaside Visitors Bureau and Cannon Beach Magazine, the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce's official guide to the city. Advertisers in each of the publications now appear in the directories of both CoastExplorerMagazine.com and the new Coast Explorer Mobile Web App and all receive their own individual business page. "With the rapidly expanding numbers of travelers using mobile devices to access local information, we wanted to be on the ground floor of this technology," Hayes said. "Studies show that mobile Internet access will surpass desktop Internet access within the next five years."

Coast Explorer chose to go the route of a mobile web application rather than a native application that requires downloading and updating. "With the Mobile Web App, all of our information remains searchable on the Internet and is updated each time a user visits," said Hayes. Pelican Productions also offers free listings on CoastExplorerMagazine.com and the new Mobile Web App to qualified local businesses. A link from the full website includes a form to submit free listings.
