Coaster Theatre is a beloved fixture in Cannon Beach, home to year-round live theater performances, concerts, lectures, film festivals and other special events. The historic playhouse once performed another interesting role in this coastal community. From the 1920s through the 1950s, the building housed the Coaster Roller Rink and once hosted weekly silent films. The building was converted to a community theater in 1972. The renovation crew couldn't sand the figure eight skating impressions out of the maple floor, so they remain, a visual reminder of the history of the building. For the past 37 years, countless audiences have been entertained by live theater performances. In 2010, Coaster Theatre will present a lineup of seven plays including three that run in repertory during the summer.
