Bookworms will converge in Cannon Beach, Oregon for Get Lit at the Beach, an annual event for literary enthusiasts.
Readers meet writers at Get Lit at the Beach, an annual gathering in Cannon Beach, Oregon, featuring prominent authors, May 19-21, 2017. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet notable authors and attend presentations, book signings and a keynote dinner presentation.
This year's guest authors will include Diana Abu-Jaber, whose books have won much recognition including Birds of Paradise being named one of the top books of the year by NPR, the Washington Post and the Oregonian; and her novel Origin being named one of the best books of the year by the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune and the Washington Post. Guest author and veteran Time Magazine book critic Lev Grossman is known for his Magicians trilogy, all of which landed on the New York Times best-seller list and are the basis for a SyFy series. Decorated Marine Corps veteran and author Karl Marlantes penned Matterhorn: A Novel of the Vietnam War, which also garnered a spot in the New York Times best-seller top ten list. Writer and illustrator James Owen has generated two dozen StarChild comics and authored best-selling series The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica. Terry Brooks, author of the popular Shannara novels on which the MTV series is based, will be present to meet and greet attendees to all events.
Weekend activities begin with a reception featuring beverages, hors d'oeuvres and all the featured authors on Friday evening. Saturday's full day of events includes author presentations, book signings and an evening keynote dinner presentation. The weekend will conclude with a moderated question and answer discussion featuring all the festival authors on Sunday morning.
