Bicyclists from around the world know about the Oregon Coast Bike Route that travels for nearly 400 miles along the coast, offering seemingly endless panoramic views. With the popularity of this scenic touring route, it's no surprise that you'll find long established coastal bike shops that offer supplies, accessories and, of course, the perfect bike to outfit you for your next touring adventure. Most of these shops also offer bike rentals, repairs, apparel and some even offer wi-fi and showers for weary travelers. It takes a minimum of about eight days to do the entire route, not counting the time you may want to spend in these shops. Whether you're touring the coast by bike or planning your trip, check out these spots for all the gear and information you need.
COASTAL BIKE SHOPS
Mike's Bike Shop
248 North Spruce Street, Suite 2, Cannon Beach
Owner, Mike Stanley
The only thing that's been around longer than Mike's Bike Shop is Haystack Rock! Mike has been in business for 36 years, supplying cyclists with everything they need. He sells Specialized and Electra brand bikes, rents bikes so travelers can leave their cars and get around town, sells from his website and has accessories, clothes and shoes in the shop. Mike biked from Portland to Paris in '73 and '74, spending nine months on the road. This experience prepared him to cater to a cycling clientele, anticipating what they will need.
Bikes & Beyond
1089 Marine Drive, Astoria

Scott Lee grew up in SW Washington, crossed the river—not on his
bicycle—and has been in business ever since.

Co-Owner, Daniella Crowder
Just five years old, already well-known and winner, in 2009, of the Sam Braxton Bike Shop Award, which honors bike shops that go out of their way to provide unique services to bicycle travelers. This defines Bike Newport.
