These Aren't Grandma's Sweaters, But She Would Look Great in Them

The Sweater Shoppe, Etc., brings fashion to the coast.

Article Imagephoto by Gary Hayes Seven years ago Karen Wilhelm opened The Sweater Shoppe, Etc. in Gleneden Beach at the Shops at Salishan. It had long been her dream to own a business that would allow her to work closely with customers. "I love the challenge of retail," she said, "And I get to meet a lot of wonderful interesting people." Sweaters and tunics in many styles and colors, and from many designers are the stars in the store; however, the Etc. in the name covers everything from hats, purses, casual wear, T-shirts, jewelry and one-of-a-kind creations from local designers. The success of the Salishan location paved the way to a new location in West Linn that opened a year ago. "I enjoy helping my customers with styling and selections. And I have the opportunity to express my own creativity and style," said Wilhelm. The Salishan location is open seven days a week from 10am-5pm, but will remain open until 6pm from July 4 to Labor Day. The West Linn location is open Monday through Saturday 11am-6pm.
