Matthew PattonStoneware bowls and plates by Matthew Patton can be found at DragonFire Gallery in Cannon Beach. Priced from $38 to $42.
DragonFire Gallery in Cannon Beach is featuring new works by fused glass artist Ann Cavanaugh, ceramic artist Matthew Patton and sculptor Catherine Foster. Cavanaugh creates abstracted views of the natural world, building thick glass panels in many layers intended to add dimension and depth to her work. Given the nature of glass, light always plays a dynamic role in Cavanaugh's work, whether shining through layers or reflecting off luminous surfaces.
The gallery also carries a new series of small plates and bowls from ceramic artist Matthew Patton. Designed for use as tableware or an art display, the high fire stoneware pieces highlight Patton's glaze techniques. Surface treatment and form are blended in order to blur the distinction between clay and glaze.
Catherine Foster has a new series of petite, fabric-embellished copper kimono sculptures at the gallery. Known for her large sculptural peace robes and kimonos in copper, Foster created the new pieces to complement smaller spaces with their 21-inch by 18-inch size.
All three artists' work can be seen now at DragonFire Gallery in Cannon Beach, Oregon. For more information about the art and artists, call (503) 436-1533.
