The 2012 Clatsop County Realtor of the Year award goes to Robin Risley of Coldwell Banker Kent Price Realty in Seaside. Risley received this recognition from her Clatsop Association of REALTORS® (CAR) peers in a ceremony at Astoria Country Club on April 24. "Wow," says Risley, "it's so exciting to have your peers clapping for you. I'm still floating days after the ceremony."
Being honored by her colleagues is nothing new for Risley. She was named CAR Top Producer in 1998, shared the 2000 Realtor of the Year award with Victor Kee, principal broker of Pete Anderson Realty and was appointed as CAR President in 2011. Risley has been a realtor for 23 years and says that professionally an appointment as Clatsop Association of Realtors President and winner of the Clatsop County Realtor of the Year Award are the top honors a realtor aspires toward. "I was honored to be the 2011 CAR president and equally honored to receive the 2012 Clatsop County Realtor of the Year award."
The Realtor of the Year Award is decided by a committee headed by the prior year award recipient. In 2011, Lynn Brigham of Windermere Cronin & Caplan Realty Group, was awarded the honor and tasked with selecting three or four other previous award winners to make up the committee that would review, score and then select the 2012 winner. Candidates are nominated by their industry colleagues and then scored on six categories that include their commitment to the profession and service to their community.
Current CAR President, Cindy Colley says of Risley, "Robin is the epitome of a Realtor. She not only gives to her organization and clients but to her community; any time she sees a need, she is right there. She is truly deserving of this award."
Robin Risley was appointed by Governor Ted Kulongoski in 2008 to serve as an Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commissioner for the State of Oregon through 2013. She is also active in the Council of Residential Specialists and was awarded an Economic Development Award for the State of Oregon.
As this year's winner, Risley 's name will be submitted for consideration as State Realtor of the Year from the Oregon Association of Realtors (OAR). Winners of the OAR award then advance to the National Association of Realtors for consideration of their annual Realtor of the Year award.
