It's Finders Keepers for glass float art in Lincoln City.
Each year, volunteers add an exciting dimension to beachcombing in Lincoln City by placing over 2000 handcrafted, signed and numbered glass floats on the beach as part of the city's Finders Keepers program. Weekly, from October to Memorial Day, approximately 65 floats are placed along the seven miles of sand, above the high tide line and below the embankment, for lucky beachcombers to find. These brilliantly colored beauties are not buried and for safety reasons they are never placed on cliffs or embankments. Finders who take their float to the Lincoln City Visitor Center will receive a certificate of authenticity and information about the local glass artist who created it. The Finders Keepers program was implemented in 1999, when 2000 floats were placed on the beach to commemorate the millennium, and it has been continued every year. To celebrate the coming year, 2013 floats will be placed on the sand from October to Memorial Day.
