Swinging on the Vine for the 35th Time is the theme for the 2012 Newport Seafood & Wine Festival. More than 20,000 visitors are expected for the 35th annual festival held February 23-26 sponsored by Chinook Winds Casino Resort. The event showcases more than 150 local and regional wineries, eateries and artisans. Wineries and restaurants are on hand with their specialties. Arts and crafts vendors bring various kinds of artwork such as wood sculpture, paintings, beads, pencil art and painted glass, as well as accessory items like handbags or gourmet condiments.
The festival has been extended to four days this year to include Thursday night from 6-10pm for $15. A limited number of tickets will be available and must be purchased in advance. Times and ticket prices for the rest of the weekend are Friday, 2-9pm, $12; Saturday, 10am-6pm, $17; Sunday, 10am-4pm, $7. The venue is tented, located adjacent to the Rogue Ales Warehouse (2320 OSU Drive) just south of downtown Newport.
Only those 21 and older, with valid photo ID, will be admitted. Parking is $5. Shuttle buses will run for free from Newport. For more information contact the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce, (541) 265-8801
