SOLV

No, it's not a treasure hunt. Though, volunteers report some interesting finds as they assist in SOLV's continuing efforts to beautify the beach along the Oregon coastline.

Article Image Saturday, September 19, join thousands of volunteers as they spend three hours picking up litter over 360 miles of Oregon beaches. Last year, more than 3700 volunteers for SOLV disposed of approximately 40,000 pounds of debris left at over 40 sites along the coast. Although plastic bottles and cigarette butts are the most common items found, in 2008 there were also a double kitchen sink, a car bumper, computer printer, carpeting, underwear, hard hats and half a toilet seat. Volunteers may register in advance for the Fall Beach Cleanup by calling (800) 333-SOLV (7658).
