A mile and a half south at Nehalem, along the banks of the Nehalem River, huge hanging flower baskets at shops along the main street burst with brilliant blooms in spring and summer. Nearby is Nehalem Bay State Park, featuring ocean beaches, bayfront beaches, camping, hiking and bike trails. Wheeler is three miles down Highway 101 on the southern shore of Nehalem Bay.
